Serendipity

Hello everyone, and welcome to all our new members who signed up to the society over the last two days!

Serendipity is officially over for another year, but as per usual it was hectic, loud, crowded and very exciting! It was great to see so much enthusiasm for the Craft and Sewing Society, with over 150 people joining.

Medi Williams, Chairperson and Emma Newman, Fundraising Executive on our stall

Leaflets we handed out to passing Freshers, along with some crocheted flower hair clips that were made as freebies specially for the occasion!

We chose to display one of our society sewing machines as part of our stand, as well as the hoodies we ordered last year! You can also see the keyrings we gave away to Freshers who signed up to the society.

Here you can see the crowd! There were so many people of all kinds - Freshers, 2nd and 3rd years, Postgraduates and Staff - all there to check out the societies on offer!

Another two of our helpers - Ally Fraser, Social Secretary and Beth Mintram

Here I am! I'm Beth, Publicity Officer, handing out flyers to passers-by

So many people refused to take flyers with the excuse they can't sew - but remember, the Craft and Sewing Society has so much more on offer than homesewing. We try all kinds of crafts including the traditional knitting and crochet, along with the more unusual like jewellery making, pottery and glass painting!

We hope you enjoyed Serendipity as much as we did, and can't wait to see all our members, new and returning, at our taster session on Tuesday!

There will be a pick up from Bar Uno on Friddoedd Site at 6:55pm for those unsure how to get to the Student Union where our meetings are held, and please do try and remember to bring a jam jar as we will be using them to make tealight holders as part of our workshop.

Thank you so much for signing up to be part of our society, and see you all soon!
